CSeries Prototype Gets A Tail Number

The first CSeries aircraft has received the Canadian tail number C-FBCS and was registered with Transport Canada on May 6th.

As is common with Bombardier aircraft, the official designation of the CSeries is nothing like its marketing designation. The CS100 is actually a model BD-500-1A10 and the CS300 will be the model BD-500-1A11. These designations are very close to Bombardier's business jets, the Challenger 300 (BD-100-1A10), Global Express (BD-700-1A10), and Global 5000 (BD-700-1A11).

As is also common with Bombardier aircraft, the first serial number for the CSeries will begin with the seemingly arbitrary number 50001.

First flight of the CS100 is expected within months if not weeks.

Je ne sais pas si c'est une coincidence ou non mais les lettres d'appel de l'avion semblent bien adaptées à l'avion.

Y a-t-il quelqu'un qui sait si on peut commander ses lettres d'appels comme sur une plaque d'immatriculation dans certaines provinces.

Il est possible que ce soit FTV2 au lieu de FTV1.

Low-cost carriers are “very interested” in the 160-seat version of the Bombardier CS300 and a “fairly high percentage” of all potential customers are taking a look at the aircraft, Mike Arcamone, President of Bombardier Commercial Aircraft told Aviation Week on the sidelines of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) annual general meeting in Cape Town.

And with interest in larger aircraft growing, Bombardier is “open to customer feedback” with regards to potentially stretching the CSeries further. However, “for the time being” Bombardier wants to focus on getting the CS100 and CS300 through certification and to customers.

FTV-1 (flight test vehicle 1) has begun a campaign of ground tests that will lead to first flight before the end of the month, according to Arcamone. The aircraft has been fuelled in several steps initially and “no issues have been found.” This will be followed by ground vibration tests, engine start up, low speed and high speed taxi tests. “We are not going to fly by the time of the Paris air show,” Arcamone pointed out. But he said he is “very confident about the maturity of the program.” In his opinion, the CSeries has struck the right balance between proven and new technologies.

All of the static testing milestones have been passed and the aircraft has been taken up to close to 150% of maximum load in the process already. The aircraft has also been pressurized on the ground.

Bombardier plans to deliver CS100s in 2014 following certification and around 35-40 in 2015. The ramp up is planned to go up to 100-120 aircraft annually, although Arcamone does not say when that goal is to be met.

Unlike on the CSeries program, Arcamone does not see a realistic future option to stretch the Q400 turning it a 90-seater. “We have not had any major request to extend it.”

T'en as-tu qui en profite pour survoler cymx et voir si le ftv1 est sortie?

Je monitor 119.1 de chez moi. Avec la hauteur ou je suis chez moi, j'entend aussi le traffic au sol. Bien hâte d'entendre que "bombardier ?" sort de taxi Tango pour aller faire un tour.

Quelqu'un a une idée de l'identification qu'ils vont utiliser? Pour les CRJ c'est "Bombardier xx" si je me souviens bien... Y'a surement du monde qui font le pieds de grue pour prendre des photos, vidéos?

Que veux-tu dire? Y'a de la construction sur la 06/24 depuis quelques jours, les TO et Landing se font sur la 11/29, pas mal d'action à CYMX, y'a pas juste moi qui est basé là!

J'ai fait de l'entrainement sur la baie d'attente de la 24 à Mirabel hier et en effet la 24 est inactive.J'ai hâte de voir le premier vol de la C series car j'ai des parts de cette compagnie depuis des lunes et elles commencent à grimper....Les analystes les classent parmi les titres spéculatifs.Histoire à suivre. Georges

Les CRJ volent sous l'indicatif d'appel "Canadair" il me semble bien.
